Filipino-American champion Brian "Hawaiian Punch" Viloria will be defending his International Boxing Federation light flyweight title against Jesus "Azul " Iribe of Mexico on August 29, 2009 at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Viloria vs. Iribe boxing match is over. IBF junior flyweight champion Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria retained his title by unanimous twelve round decision against a very game Jesus “El Azul” Iribe on Saturday night at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. The scores were 118-110, 117-112, 117-111.

In the co-main event feature, world ranked bantamweight AJ Banal scored a unanimous ten round decision over Jose Angel Beranza. The scores were 99-92, 98-91 and 98-92.

In the other card, junior welterweight Dennis Laurente won a ten round unanimous decision over former world title challenger Zaid “El Exterminador” Zavaleta. The scores were 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91.

Super welterweight Alfonso Gomez of “Contender: Season One” fame demolished Raul Munoz in the very first round of a scheduled ten. Munoz was on the deck twice. Gomez is now headed toward a November 14 showdown with Jesus Soto-Karass on the November 14 Pacquiao vs Cotto upcoming boxing match.
