Descipable Me : Illumination First Debut hit #1 Box Office

Synopsis :
In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!) in Universal’s new 3-D CGI feature, “Despicable Me.”
Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.

The world’s greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.

3D animated film "Despicable Me" which voice filled by the actor Steve Carrel, ranked first in North America box office (U.S. and Canada) on Sunday. The success of this animated films marked a new round of competition between animation production house, its a new challenger for Pixar and DreamWorks Animation.
This Universal Pictures movie were able to make 60.1 million dollars across the U.S. and Canada since Friday. In fact, the film is predictable only lead to between 30-35 million dollars.

This low budget animation projects ($ 69 million) is the first debut of Illumination Entertainment, founded by Chris Meledandri, 20th Century Fox's former boss. General Electric Co. sponsored and distributed the film.

 
Looking the success of this film, Illumination already plan to make a sequel of Despicable Me.

"This will be a remarkable product franchise for Universal and Illumination," said Nikki Rocco, president of Universal.

This 3D cartoon film also generate $ 5 million net thrown into the international market. Russia ranked first with a rate sales of $ 3.4 million in initial impressions.

Actor, comedian Steve Carell fill the voice of Gru, the main character who intends to steal the moon but canceled it after see the innocence of three orphan girls who regard him as father.
