2011 Officially the Most Sequel-Happy Year in History!

This has been news for a great long while already, but my elaborate, foolish posting system means this is the first I'm commenting upon it. Somewhere around 28 sequels are scheduled for 2011 release, and most of those have attendant franchises as well. Even ignoring those series which aren't yet up to 4 entries, here is what my filmgoing schedule looks like for the next year. Pray for me.

Scream 4 (April 15)
Madea's Big Happy Family (April 22)
Fast Five (April 29)
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (May 20)
X-Men: First Class (June 1)
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (July 1) (Because I count The Transformers: The Movie towards the franchise, and am a glutton for pain.)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (July 15)
Winnie the Pooh (also July 15)
Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World (August 19)
Final Destination 5 (August 26)
Piranha 3DD (September 16) (Because the original series counts, making this #4.)
Puss in Boots (November 4) (aka Shrek 5)
Rise of the Apes (November 23)
The Muppets (also November 23)
Mission: Impossibe - Ghost Protocol (December 16)
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (also December 16...though this one may not count)

And one that's still up in the air: Halloween III

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (November 18) does not count, THANK GOD, because there is a final one coming in 2012. NOOOOOOO!!!

That's ignoring Part 2 and 3 sequels, which I am not listing. Though the world trembles that there may soon be a fourth Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. Gentlemen, to creative stagnation!
