This music video starts off with Dr.Dre (rapper, deejay, producer) getting into a car and reminiscing about his old days (clips of his music videos, collaborations, time with family, and work with Eminem are shown). He then gets into a car accident and ironically, Dr. Dre needs doctor. Dr. Dre then seems to be a in a state of unconsciousness or perhaps a coma. The music video features Eminem, who used to be Dr. Dre's prodigy, rapping about his own experience working with him as well as how much he has helped his life and career. Eminem is known to have been though emotional and physical setbacks throughout his career. In a sense Eminem raps about how he "needed a doctor" and it was Dre who brought him back to life. Later on the video shows Dr. Dre having woken from his coma state, and now working to recover his body. He raps about who he feels has sided with him until that point, and names Eminem as the only companion that he still trusts and can depend on, unlike the others who have ended up backstabbing or betraying him. The song for the music video is about the past experiences of Eminem and Dr. Dre, and it gives a closer look what they have to say about their relationship. The music video is based on the perception of real events, and the real lives of the Eminem and Dr. Dre. It is a construction on a version of reality. There is a slight communication bias because the viewer is only about to see one side of the story, since Em and Dre are on the same side. The individuals that are mentioned as Dr. Dre's "back stabbers", is identified in his own perspective. A viewer who does not know the Dr. Dre's history and the events which took place in his life will not understand where he coming from. The song and the video for "I Need a Doctor" are used in cohesion effectively and create a strong storyline.
There is product placement in the video in the beginning where Dr. Dre is driving a fancy sports car. It looks to be a Ferrari, and the speed of the car is showcased through the first couple of cuts. Dr. Dre's product is also shown in the video, "Beats By Dre". When Dr. Dre is lying on the table unconscious, there is an angelic female figure that floats above his body, which could symbolize his guardian angel. In another part of the video, Dr. Dre is floating in what looks to be a clear tank filled with clear fluid, similar to many films that feature supernatural creatures or beings. These beings are usually associated with invincibility and the notion of a "new creation". When Dre is in the process of recovering, he is shown working out in a gym looking very tall, strong, and muscular. This could be a symbol that he is better and stronger than ever, and that nothing can bring him down.
